Getting approved

Finish setup with a real photo of your face. Staff review it. A clear head-and-shoulders picture in normal light passes. Emojis, cartoons, logos, group shots, and hidden faces are rejected.

A passed photo is not a Verified badge. CaribTutor does not run a government-ID check. Upload a new photo if one is rejected. A rejected photo can block messaging until it is fixed.

Students can book you only after an admin approves your profile. Submitting setup marks the listing pending. It is not bookable yet. An incomplete approved profile returns to pending until an admin approves it again. Rejected, draft, and paused listings stay off Discover.

Build a strong profile

Your public page is what a student sees before they book. Add a photo, a short intro video, your subjects, your rate, and open times.

• Photo: one person, face visible, recent.
• Intro: a short video of you talking, plus a written intro. New listings need the video.
• Subjects: only what you are ready to teach.
• Rate: the price the student pays for the lesson, in full.
• Availability: open slots on your calendar. Students book those times.

Connect Stripe to get paid

Students pay the full lesson price by card through Stripe. Your share of lessons after the trial goes to your own Stripe account. CaribTutor does not hold tutor lesson funds. Connect Stripe from Earnings before students can pay you by card.

Trial lessons are kept by CaribTutor. You earn from every lesson after that.

If Stripe does not pay tutors in your country, you can still create your profile. Students cannot pay you by card until payouts open. PayPal payouts are coming soon. PayPal payouts are not live.

How booking works

A student finds you on Discover, picks an open slot, and pays the listed price by card. The lesson stays unpaid until that payment succeeds. The booking shows on your board and in Lessons.

Students pay by card. PayPal is not checkout. Card checkout is Stripe.

Running the lesson

Be in the classroom at the start. You can open the room earlier to set up the board. Students join at the scheduled start. Check your camera and microphone on the setup screen before you join.

The practice classroom only tests video. It is not a booked lesson. CaribTutor does not record lessons. If video is not set up, use Messages until it is ready.

Be on time. Message the student if you will be late. Keep the camera, board, and chat appropriate, including when the student is a child.

When the payout is released

After a paid lesson, the student can tap Release payment. That sends your share toward your bank. If they do not tap it, a daily job releases it 72 hours after the scheduled end. The job runs once a day, so the payout can land up to about a day later.

If the student taps “I have a problem” before release, the payout pauses. An admin can release it, refund the charge in full, or leave the fee with no refund.

Refunds and cancellations

Cancel more than 12 hours before the start and the student is refunded in full. Inside 12 hours, the student can still cancel and the fee generally stands. You cannot cancel in the app inside that window. Contact support if you must.

A student no-show stays paid to you. A tutor no-show is refunded in full. A finished lesson is not refunded because someone changed their mind.

Refunds are full or none. There are no lesson credits and no partial refunds. A Connect refund reverses your transfer and refunds CaribTutor’s fee. Stripe keeps its processing fee.

Your commission

The rate starts at 28% and only drops as you complete more paid lessons. It is locked on each lesson at checkout. A tier you reach stays. Stripe’s card fee comes out of CaribTutor’s share, not your payout.

Cancelled, no-show, refunded, test, and a first introductory lesson the platform keeps do not count.

• Starter: 0–49 completed paid lessons at 28%. On a $40.00 lesson the tutor receives $28.80.
• Growing: 50–149 completed paid lessons at 22%. On a $40.00 lesson the tutor receives $31.20.
• Established: 150–299 completed paid lessons at 18%. On a $40.00 lesson the tutor receives $32.80.
• Top Tutor: 300+ completed paid lessons at 15%. On a $40.00 lesson the tutor receives $34.00.

Getting more students

A complete profile with a real photo, clear subjects, and open times can show on Discover. Reviews from finished lessons show on your public page.

Share your public page with people who want to learn with you. Staff choose featured listings. You cannot turn that on yourself.

Child safety and conduct

Lessons are for learning. Someone under 13 cannot create their own account. A parent or guardian creates the account and uses it with the child. There is no separate child login.

Do not contact a minor off CaribTutor without the parent or guardian’s consent. Do not move that lesson off the site. Keep cameras and chat appropriate. Harassment is not allowed.

Report a concern to support. Staff can warn, limit messaging, pause a listing, or close an account.
